Water main break in Northeast Philadelphia floods part of Cottman Avenue

Crews to continue to repair water main break in Northeast Philadelphia

A water main break in Northeast Philadelphia created a traffic mess on Monday afternoon.

The main break on James Street flooded the streets for drivers on Cottman Avenue near State Road.

The Philadelphia Water Department said reports of the main break started coming in around 3 p.m.

The PWD said crews were able to shut off water to the 8-inch main Monday night.

The main break isn't impacting any residents in the area. However, several nearby commercial properties were affected, the PWD said. Water will be restored as soon as repairs can be made.

James Street remains closed above Cottman Avenue as repairs are made. Repairs are expected to be completed Tuesday.

If residents have any problems, they should call 215-685-6300 to report the issue.
