Water Main Break Closes Roads In Montco

GLENSIDE, Pa. (CBS) -- A stretch of a busy road in Glenside is closed off as crews work to fix a water main that broke overnight.

The break happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday right next to a residential area near Mount Carmel and Tyson Avenues.

Nearly a hundred homes were without water. Water was restored just after 8 a.m.

One resident says he woke up much earlier than he would have liked.

"I heard hammering so I figured something's broke," said resident Dave.

Because of the work being done, Authorities say Mount Carmel Avenue is closed between Limekiln Pike and Easton Road.

This is about a half mile away from the Glenside train station. SEPTA says regional rail service is not affected.

Repairs should be completed by lunchtime.
