Warm Temperatures Having Big Impact On Area Ski Resorts

SCHWENKSVILLE, Pa., (CBS) -- With temperatures in the 60's this weekend and snow nowhere in sight, those who depend on snow for their livelihoods are feeling the heat.

"Well, we are being patient, I guess, is the best way to put it."

Rick Buckman is the owner of Spring Mountain Ski area near Schwenksville. He says the temperatures are way too high and he couldn't make snow if he wanted to.

"Well it has to be below freezing and the drier the air the better. If it's 30 degrees and a high humidity you make lousy snow."

So there is no snow and the slopes are empty but there is some money coming in online and at the counter on weekends as folks purchase holiday gifts.

"So we are selling gift cards, we are selling season passes, we are selling after school programs."
