Wal-Mart Worker Loses Arm In Accident At Pennsylvania Distribution Center

TOBYHANNA, Pa. (AP) — Officials say a Wal-Mart employee lost his arm in an accident at a distribution center in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Wal-Mart spokeswoman Erica Jones tells the Pocono Record the man remains hospitalized after the Dec. 30 accident. The company wouldn't release the man's name or give any details.

Pocono Mountain Regional Ambulance Operations Director Denise Doremus says the accident happened at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Tobyhanna.

She says the victim's arm was put on ice and he was taken by ambulance to a Scranton hospital. A medical helicopter had to be cancelled because of weather.

Jones says the safety of workers is Wal-Mart's "top priority" and the company is "fully supporting" him and his family.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
