Volunteers Honor Fallen Veterans With Wreath Laying At Gloucester County Cemetery

MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- Volunteers in Gloucester County, New Jersey remembered fallen veterans Saturday morning by decorating their grave sites as part of the "Wreaths to Remember" program.

There are more than 2,300 veterans buried beneath the frosty grass at the Gloucester County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.

Bernadette Blackstock with the People For People Foundation says each one will be honored with a wreath and a prayer.

"We really appreciate all of the sacrifices that not only our veterans have made, but their families have made for us," Blackstone said. "We here in America really do appreciate our veterans."

Hammonton High School junior Josh Donovan was just one of 700 volunteers.

"People in the military, they're the reason why we're here," he said, "and the reason why we can do stuff like this."

This was made possible, in part, through Home Depot's purchasing power. Each wreath cost less than $6.
