Volunteer For Seed Exchange

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Awww, if you're done with the cold and snow and you just want to think about spring...here you go! While lots of gardeners turn to seed catalogs in winter to dream of the warm weather to come, you can join volunteers sorting through seeds at the Hardy Plant Society Seed Exchange.

What would you do as a volunteer? Help check and clean seeds donated by members - open pods or shake the seeds from dried flowerheads, pick out petals and bits of other garden detritus - and sort seeds into packets. Members contribute seeds from plants they grew, and the Seed Exchange is one way smart gardeners around here end up growing some of the best and most unique specimen plants.

You don't need any experience, but you'll learn a lot while you work just listening to the great gardeners around you.

The seed sorting takes place at the The Henry Foundation, 801 Stony Lane, Gladwyne, PA and you can volunteer to help between 10:00am - 2:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays each week, now through February 13.
