Vince Fenerty Set To Collect Yearly Pension After Resigning From PPA
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Parking Authority board, this morning, accepted the resignation of the former executive director, accused of multiple cases of sexual harassment. He stands to collect an estimated $155,000 a year in pension payments.
The city estimates the pension payments for Vince Fenerty, based on his 33 years at the Parking Authority, and the city is liable even though it's a state agency. When the state took it over, it left the city with pension costs. Spokesman Martin O'Rourke says the Authority can't challenge the pension.
"That's a negotiated thing with the pension board."
Chairman Joe Ashdale announced the Board would conduct a search for a new director and that Deputies Corinne O'Connor and Rick Dickson would run the agency in the meantime. He said the board would be more vigilant about harassment.
"I want to add, particularly to our female employees that we will not forget what happened to these employees."
Skeptics remain. Several people testified at city council that the agency should receive more city scrutiny. However, council defeated a resolution for an audit of the agency.
