Villanova, U.S. Military Academy Join Forces To Discuss War Ethics

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - For the first time ever, Villanova University is hosting a conference on the Ethics of War.
The two-day conference -- being held in collaboration with the United States Military Academy -- will be a discussion on war, and the responsibilities that go along with it.
Mark Wilson is an assistant professor in the Ethics Program and the main organizer behind the event:
"The speakers will address questions such as preventive war," he says, "which became an issue with Iraq and so-called Bush Doctrine; question of the war on terror and the use of targeted killing and drones; questions about the psychological effects of war and how soldiers and Marines understand themselves after having participated in the tragedies of war."
Wilson says other issues which he expects will be raised include torture, post traumatic stress disorder and how a country can wage war without sacrificing its moral integrity.
