SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- You may have seen the viral video of the unusual erosion in Townsends Inlet. So what caused the sand to fall into the water?
The mayor says the conditions were ripe for it to happen.
Fast-moving currents and just the right tidal conditions crashed into the sand and caused the crumble.
The Department of Public Works moved some sand around to flatten the beach in the area.
