VIDEO: Man Displays 'Police-Type' Badge, Steals Woman's Purse In Cobbs Creek

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are searching for the suspect who was caught on tape displaying a "police-type" badge and then stealing a female's purse.

The incident happened at about 7:25 p.m. on April 17th near 52nd Street and Cedar Avenue in the city's Cobbs Creek section.

Surveillance video shows the suspect approaching a 36-year-old female on the street. According to investigators, the suspect displayed a "police-type" badge and told the female to drop her bag on the ground.

The suspect then took the bag off the woman's shoulder and began to run away and the female victim chased after him.

The suspect then jumped into a waiting car that sped off. The female held onto the car down the block before she eventually let go.

The first suspect is described as a black male, 5'8", with an athletic build. He was wearing a light gray-hooded sweatshirt with an orange shirt underneath, tan camouflage cargo pants, and a dark-colored baseball cap with a New York Yankees logo on the front.

The driver of the getaway car is described as a light-complected black male. The getaway car was a newer model dark-colored Nissan Altima.
