Video Games Impact Kids' Socialization

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - We talk about it often - too much time spent playing video games is bad for kids' mental and social health.

I think we are all in agreement that too much time is a bad thing but what about a few hours a week?

The American Academy of Pediatrics focused on a study from Britain where they compared the amount of daily free time that nearly 5,000 teens reported devoting to video games. They followed this with tests looking at the social interactions.

What they found was that those kids who spent one to three hours daily playing video games tended to be better adjusted than those who spent either less than an hour or more than three hours a day engaged in this activity.

Again, everything in moderation.
