Vendors All Smiles As Philadelphia's Christmas Village Wraps Up

By Justin Udo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Sunday marked the last day for the Christmas Village shops in Center City, with many of the store owners finding themselves on Santa's nice list.

For the vendors selling everything from dog treats to hats and gloves, it wasn't business as usual at this year's Christmas Village, as they tell KYW Newsradio.

"It's been fantastic. It's been our best one so far."

"This has been a pretty good year."

"It's been a really good season for us. We definitely saw an increase in sales this year over last in general there's just a lot of foot traffic."

Many of the owners have the same theory on why they saw more foot traffic this year, and they say the nice weather is only part of the reason:

"Dilworth Ice skating rink -- by them adding that particular thing downtown it's attracting more people to come through to Christmas Village."

"I don't know how many hundreds or thousands of people I saw carrying ice skates by my stand and in my stand."

The vendors at the village aren't the only one's having a happy holiday. Experts say Christmas season sales across the country increased by four-percent.
