"Valor" Comes To The CW This Fall

Philadelphia (CW Philly) -- The CW has been consistent with its lineup of superhero shows, giving people hit shows like "The Flash", "Arrow", "Supergirl", and "DC's Legends Of Tomorrow," but a new military show seeks to break through.

The network has successfully forged an identity with genre shows based on the DC Comics library, but a brand new military drama will be joining the CW line-up this year. "Valor," a new drama about a special-ops unit, debuts this fall.

During the Television Critics Association press tour this summer, CW President Mark Pedowitz said that he's always thought of developing a military show since he arrived at the network six years ago. Taking notes from Lifetime's "Army Wives" -- a series that came out of ABC/Disney's studio while he was an executive there -- he came to the idea of "Valor".

With the current political climate, Pedowitz stated that this would be the right time for a military show since the armed forces are among the few institutions in a polarized American society that have maintained their respect and stature with the public.

"In this very fractionalized country, more people support the military than not, and they'll give a show like this a shot," Pedowitz told reporters from the Los Angeles Times.

"Valor," which has a young, attractive cast that includes Matt Barr and Christina Ochoa, will feel more like a soap opera than the other military entries coming this season.

"Sometimes you can't control these things," said Pedowitz. "It's the CW, so we'll have a different twist on it and hope the audience finds it."
