Valley Forge Casino Admits To Management Lapses That Brought Huge Fines

UPPER MERION Twp., Pa. (CBS) - Valley Forge Casino operators say they've made sweeping management changes in response to near record fines for state gaming law violations related to promotions and allowing four underage gamblers to be admitted.
During last week's Pennsylvania Gaming Board meeting in Harrisburg, Valley Forge representatives agreed to pay fines totalling $200,000 and disclosed they had hired new managers to oversee key operations, including security and regulatory compliance.
Attorney Adrian King conceded there was no good excuse for Valley Forge's failure to clear 173 promotional offers with the gaming board as required by law:
"When there was one person working with that responsibility, they were submitted. When another person replaced that person the first person was out on maternity leave, somebody just dropped the ball and didn't do it."
As to the underage gambling, Valley Forge officials say the violators were guests of members who have now been banned from the resort.
Security personnel responsible for those lapses also were disciplined and one resigned.
