Utah Company To Buy Three Mile Island's Infamous Unit 2 Reactor, Dismantle Facility

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) -- A Utah company is in talks to buy Three Mile Island's infamous Unit 2 reactor and dismantle the facility. Unit 2 has been closed since 1979, when it was the site of the worst nuclear reactor accident in the United States.

EnergySolutions, of Salt Lake City, says it will acquire the unit from FirstEnergy Corp.

The deal does not include Unit 1, which is scheduled to close in September.
