Ursinus College Names New President

By Jim Melwert

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (CBS) -- Brock Blomberg will become the seventeenth president in Ursinus College's 146-year history, following the sudden death last fall of the previous leader of the liberal arts college in Montgomery County.

"What I've seen for students here is this is an opportunity college," says Blomberg, currently dean of the school of economics and finance at Claremont McKenna College, in California.  "This is a college that changes people's lives."

Blomberg has also held positions with the Federal Reserve, the World Bank, and the President's Council of Economic Advisors.

He says he has received a warm welcome from the Ursinus community, including a message from Suzanne Fong, the widow of the school's previous president, Bobby Fong, "congratulating me and opening up her time in the future to sit down and give me a little tutelage.  And I just think that speaks volumes."

Blomberg's appointment is effective July 1st.
