UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) - A boy is recovering in the hospital after falling from a second floor window in Upper Darby.

The mother of the child, 29-year-old Lea Wanhi and father, 31-year-old Legbo Wanhi, were both arrested and charged after the child was found bloody outside the home.

Police have charged the parents with Recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of a child. Both were arraigned Tuesday morning, and held on $30,000 bond.

The incident happened on the 300 block of Hampden Road.

Police save the child was found around 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The mother did not return back to the home until around 7:30 PM. Authorities could not get a hold of the father until around 11 p.m.

The mother told authorities she had been at work, and then went grocery shopping. The father had left the child home alone as he told police he had left to go look for a job.

It was a neighbor who alerted authorities to the three-year-old boy outside his home. That neighbor, Gilda Clinton, found the boy crying and in blood after he exited the home through the second floor window.

Authorities are still trying to figure out if the three-year-old somehow fell out of a very small window or if he broke the glass, climb down and jumped.

The boy suffered an orbital bone fracture and lacerations to the face.

Police have concern about older bruises and injuries the doctors noticed on the child.
