Up Next For Tom Corbett: Honorary Co-Chair Of World Meeting Of Families

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Governor Tom Corbett's term in office ends today, but he will have his hands full in the coming months with duties in another leadership role he took on in Philadelphia several months ago.
Gov. Tom Corbett was tapped by Archbishop Charles Chaput to serve, along with Mayor Michael Nutter, as honorary co-chair of the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, set for next September. The highlight, of course, being the visit by Pope Francis.
Donna Farrell, executive director of the Philadelphia organization putting on the families conference, says both Corbett and First Lady Susan Corbett accepted the archbishop's invitation to stay on.
"Together they form a really terrific team and we are so grateful to them for all that they have brought to the World Meeting of Families and look forward to working with them very closely in the months ahead," Farrell said. "He's expressed an interest to assist even more when his term ends and we are very much looking forward to that. We're extremely appreciative of his time and looking forward to working with him very closely."
The Corbetts were among the Philadelphia delegation to meet with Pope Francis on St. Peter's Square in the Vatican last March. Farrell says they've been active in fundraising as well as planning for the conference and the pope's visit.
