Union Select Dzenan Catic And Eric Bird At MLS SuperDraft

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Thursday, the Union announced their selections at the 2015 MLS SuperDraft which was held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The team did not have a pick in the first round but selected two player with the 31st and 41st overall picks.

The Union nabbed forward Dzenan Catic with their first selection and took midfielder Eric Bird with their next pick.

Catic, 22, played two years at Davenport University. This past season he scored 39 goals and tallied 11 assists. Catic was named the NAIA Player of the Year and helped to lead Davenport University to a national title in 2014.

Bird, 21, played four years for the University of Virginia. In 2014 he registered five goals and two assists in 19 games. He was also named an All-ACC First Team selection.
