Union With Key Match Saturday Against New England

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Union need to get back on track.

Jim Curtin's squad is just 1-4-3 in its last eight MLS matches. This slump has dropped the Union to fifth place in MLS Eastern Conference with 31 points.

The Union have added a couple of key pieces over the last couple of weeks in forward Charlie Davies and midfielder Alejandro Bedoya. While Davies made an appearance in Saturday's 2-2 tie with D.C. United, Bedoya is expected to make his Union debut in this match against the Revolution. Davies on Saturday will be matching up with his former team in the Revs.

New England is currently in sixth place in the East with 26 points (6-9-8 record). The Revolution have lost two straight in MLS play, but on Wednesday in U.S. Open Cup action, they advanced to the final with a 3-1 win over Chicago.

The Union lost to the Revolution in penalty kicks in the quarterfinals of the Open Cup back on July 20th. The two teams met in MLS play back on March 20th, in Chester, the Union winning, 3-0.

KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Matt De George of the Delaware County Times about the match-up with the Revolution and what Bedoya brings to the table for the Union.
