Military Facilities in Philadelphia Evacuated Over Security 'Threat'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Two military facilities in Philadelphia were evacuated this morning after officials received what they called "a credible threat."

The threat was reportedly made about 10:30am, and the Navy Yard, in South Philadelphia, and the Naval Support Activity facility (part of the Defense Logistics Agency), in the city's Lawncrest section, were both evacuated and employees sent home for the day.

The official Twitter account of the Navy Yard sent out the following tweet:

The U.S. Navy has received security info, leading it to dismiss its Philly non-essential personnel for the day. The Navy Yard remains open.

About 90 minutes later, Philadelphia Police called the threats "unfounded" and called off their emergency response. Still, with the facilities shutting down for the day, cars continued to stream out of the exits as workers left.
