Two Singers Raised Locally To Share Stage With Philly POPS

By Lynne Adkins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--Two singers raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania share the stage with the Philly POPS this weekend.

AJ Swearingen, the Paul Simon of the duo and Jonathan Beedle, or Art Garfunkel, sing the classics of Simon and Garfunkel.

They met more than two decades ago and Jonathan says they've been singing together ever since.

"We started talking and one thing led to another and we realized we both like the same things in music. And that night he got me up and we did 'The Only Living Boy In NY,' a Simon and Garfunkel song, and the blend was really great right out of the gate and that's how it all started."

Neither one has a favorite song that they'll admit to, they say they love all of them for different reasons.

The performances take place at the Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall this weekend.
