Two Philly Police Officers Injured When Suspect Tries To Escape Hospital

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two Philadelphia police officers were being treated for injuries they received during a fight with a suspect who was in custody at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
It happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
Authorities say 38-year-old Dwayne Walker of Philadelphia was in police custody on charges of domestic assault and was being treated at Jefferson University Hospital for previous wounds. Walker's handcuffs were removed for a medical procedure and that's when, police say, he unsuccessfully lunged for an officer's gun and began fighting both officers.
Walker then took off, running down the hallway naked, wearing nothing more than a catheter.
Officers tracked him down, tasered him at least once and wrestled him to the floor.
Police say at some point during the altercation, Walker punched one officer in the face and bruised the other's hand.
Both officers were taken to Temple University Hospital where they were treated and checked for possible blood contamination.
Walker is now being charged with escaping police custody, aggravated assault and related offenses.
