Two Local Hospitals Join Forces To Help Mothers And Babies In Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY (CBS) -- Two local hospitals are joining forces to provide expert care for mothers and babies in the East Norriton area.

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Einstein Medical Center Montgomery will work together to offer maternal and pediatric care at the Montgomery County hospital.

Einstein President and CEO Barry Freedman says starting this year, CHOP Doctors will be on site.

"What chop will do for us is bring their staff of physicians and other professionals to provide the pediatric care and emergency room pediatric care and the observation in patient unit and neonatal unit and neonatology unit," Freedman said.

He said eventually, construction will begin at Einstein to enlarge the available space to provide the expanded care; the two hospitals will share the building costs.
