Two Charged In Trenton Shooting That Wounded Young Girl

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Two people face aggravated assault charges stemming from a shooting in New Jersey's capital city this week that injured a 9-year-old girl.

Trenton police say 32-year-old city resident Jebreel Abdullah and a 17-year-old Trenton boy also face weapons and drug charges. Both were arrested late Thursday night, and it was not known Saturday if either suspect has retained a lawyer.

A motive for Monday afternoon's shooting has not been disclosed, but authorities have said the girl was an innocent bystander. She was walking along a street when two bullets grazed her leg and ribs and one lodged in her shoulder.

The girl, whose name has not been disclosed, was released from the hospital on Thursday.

Authorities have not said who fired the shots that wounded the girl.
