Twitter Answers Everyone's Prayers By Unveiling A Mute Option

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – You know that pesky Twitter user that is constantly tweeting spoilers and ranting about politics, but you just can't unfollow them without the guilt? Twitter has finally come up with a solution.

According to their blog, Twitter introduced a mute feature on Monday for those who use the iPhone and Android application. It is also available on Twitter.com.

The social media site says the mute feature works "in the same way you can turn on device notifications so you never miss a Tweet from your favorite users, you can now mute users you'd like to hear from less."

The muted account will not know about the "silencing." They will still be able to reply, favorite and retweet your tweet, but you will not see the activity.

Plus, if you begin to feel guilty or even miss the pest, you can unmute them at any time.

According to Twitter, to mute a user on your iOS or Android device, click the more option then mute @username.

Twitter says the new feature rolled out on Monday and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
