TSA Officers Stop Woman With Handgun At Philadelphia International Airport Checkpoint

DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. (CBS) -- TSA officers say they stopped a woman with a gun at the Philadelphia International Airport Saturday.

Officials say the West Chester woman had a .38 caliber handgun in her carry-on bag as she went through a security checkpoint.

The woman reportedly told officers she forgot that she had the unloaded weapon with her.

Police: Road Rage Suspect Pointed Gun At Woman On Route 1 In Middletown 

Philadelphia Police confiscated the gun and cited her on weapons violations.

When someone shows up to a checkpoint with a firearm, the checkpoint lane comes to a standstill until police resolve the incident.

Guns found at checkpoints could delay travelers from getting to their gates.

The TSA says it was the 23rd gun caught by its agents at Philadelphia International this year.
