Trump's Son Offers Insight Into Republican Candidate's Strategy In Pennsylvania
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Trump campaign has re-energized its effort in Pennsylvania. For months, the Republican presidential candidate didn't even have an office in the state. Now, he's about to make his third visit in three weeks to the area.
"Pennsylvania is an incredibly important state," said Eric Trump, Donald's son and campaign advisor. "I mean, it's really-- it's everything."
Trump says his father's campaign is finding a lot of enthusiasm in the state. Recent polls have Democrat Hillary Clinton up by an average of six points in Pennsylvania, but the younger Trump son says the campaign hasn't ceded the state -- not even the heavily Democratic cities.
"In fact, I think we've spent more time talking to those demographics than anybody," he said.
Trump cites his father's recent education speech -- advocating shifting federal money from public schools to private and charter schools -- as an example of outreach to cities, where education systems struggle most.
He says his father would also like to make manufacturing in the U.S. profitable again, providing jobs.
On Tuesday night, Donald Trump visits Aston, Delaware County. The event is invitation only.
