Trump Supporters Have Coffee, Chat With His Daughter In Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - In the final hours of election season, candidates and their families are spending a majority of their time in battleground states --- like Pennsylvania.

Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka, stopped by the Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein Club Sunday in Northeast Philadelphia, for a coffee and conversation with supporters.

Ivanka tried to pin-point policies proposed by her father, focusing primarily on issues facing families, like security, money and education.

"There's a lot that wrong right now with how our children are being educated, my father is not for common core. He wants to bring education to the local level, where it belongs," she said to a roaring applause.

Mary Ann Grous was among one of a few hundred in the crowd.

"I think she's showing promise that her father really does want to help the people," said Grous. "I see that she is trying to help the young mothers, and the families."

36-year-old Reginald Redding Jr. is a first time voter, who says he didn't get the chance to ask Ivanka about a topic close to his heart:

"We want to know what his approach is to gun violence."

But Redding says he will cast his first ballot for Trump on Tuesday.

"He's not a politician and that's the answer that we are looking for, coming where I am from. We want the truth, we don't want to hear the political answer."

Brian Hoey brought his family, including two small girls.

"She's a role model," he said about Ivanka.

Hoey is urging everyone he knows to show up on Tuesday.

"Talking to a lot of friends, and getting the word out. And just making sure everyone gets out, even if you are not for Donald Trump. Just everyone's got to get out, we have to have record turnout."

Ivanka wrapped up the session by pushing the audience to take carpools of voters to the polls on Election Day.
