Massive Truck Carrying Phillie Phanatic, 161 Trees To Arrive In Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Did you know a tree is planted every time a Phillies player hits a home run?

A massive truck carrying the Phillie Phanatic and 161 trees will be unloaded by Philadelphia Gas Works, the Phillies, and Pennsylvania Horticultural Society volunteers on Wednesday at the Navy Yard.

The trees are tagged with names of Phillies players who hit home runs during the 2016 campaign, as part of the Home Runs for Trees program, which began over five years ago. Since then, 700 trees tagged with the names of Phillies players who have hit home runs have been planted.
