Driver In Deadly Hit-And-Run Moved Teens Off Road Before Fleeing: Police

LOWER SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. (CBS) – Police in Bucks County are searching for the driver accused of fatally striking a woman and injuring a man on Monday night.

It happened around 8:15 p.m. along Street Road, near Philmont Avenue in the Trevose area.

Authorities said the hit-and-run driver initially stopped at the intersection and moved the two teens he struck to the side of the road, but then he sped off.

An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were both taken to a local hospital.

On Tuesday night, authorities said 19-year-old Jess Kurtz died from her injuries. Will Vanarsdale, 18, suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Vanarsdale told Eyewitness News that he wants the hit-and-run driver to know that he finds him "disgusting".

Police are looking for a late-model two-tone maroon and tan, or gray, Ford pickup with a ladder rack and ladder attached, and damage to the right-front side.

Witnesses describe the driver as a black male, around 30 years old, thin build, around 6 feet tall and last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, possibly a Knicks cap, a black shirt and dark jeans.

"After striking two pedestrians, he drove away from the scene, either to Bensalem or on Trevose Road toward Philadelphia," said Lower Southampton Township Police Lt. Michael Pennington.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police at (215) 633-3719.
