Tree Trimmer Killed After Being Hit By Collapsing Bucket Lift

CAMP HILL, Pa. (AP) — A central Pennsylvania tree trimmer is dead after being hit by a collapsing bucket lift being used by a co-worker.

The Cumberland County coroner's office says 53-year-old Michael Shaud, of Middletown, was killed when he was hit by the falling bucket. Shaud was collecting debris on the ground when the lift collapsed onto him.

Police say another employee in the bucket fell out when it collapsed and was taken to Hershey Medical Center, where his name and condition were not immediately available.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating, along with police in Camp Hill, where the incident happened about 10 a.m. Thursday.

Shaud worked for Shull's Tree Service in Middletown, where a woman who answered the phone Friday says officials aren't commenting.
