Travelers Hit Rails and Skies For Trip Home After Holiday Weekend

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Thanksgiving holiday weekend is fast coming to an end and lots of people are taking to the skies or the rails for the trip home today.

Amtrak's Christina Leeds says this is one of the busiest travel days for the rail operator and extra trains have been added. But she says riders need to be prepared as well.

"Arrive to the station early, (make sure) you have a valid photo ID," she says. "Check the status of your train before you arrive. Be aware when you're at the station. Make sure that you're in the proper place on the platform. Make sure that you're listening for the boarding calls."

Philadelphia International Airport expects 95,000 to be flying in or out today.

"We're advising people to arrive at the airport ahead of usual," says spokeswoman Mary Flannery. "I mean even two hours for a domestic flight would be good today and three hours for an international flight."

If you're picking someone up, Flannery advises using the airport's cell phone lot until your loved one alerts you that they've claimed their baggage and are ready to go.
