Travel To Cuba Getting Easier In Our Area After Airline Announces Start Of Flights To The Island

NEW YORK, NY (CBS) – A country that was, until recently, forbidden to American citizens is getting easier to travel to.

JetBlue now says it will begin weekly flights between New York's JFK Airport and Havana starting July 3rd, 2015.

But if you'd like to travel to Cuba, you must book through Cuba Travel Services.

The announcement makes JetBlue the first major carrier to announce direct service to the island nation since the easing of travel restrictions.

And if you'd rather not fly, you'll also be able to go by boat.

The Treasury Department has approved licenses for the first ferry service to the island in decades.

This could mean hundreds of thousands of tourists traveling between Florida and Havana each year.
