Person Dies After Truck Collides With Broken Down Tractor Trailer On NJ Turnpike

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) -- A deadly accident involving a tractor trailer took place on Monday night in Burlington County on the New Jersey Turnpike. The incident occurred around 9:44 p.m.

Police say one person died as a result and another was severely injured. The injured person was taken to Cooper Medical Center for treatment.

Officials say the accident took place on the southbound side of the turnpike and involved a tractor trailer and another vehicle.

New Jersey State Police say that the tractor trailer was broken down on the shoulder near mile marker 39.9. Two people were working on the back of the tractor trailer when police say a pick-up truck collided with the tractor trailer, striking the two people.

Authorities say the person who died was one of the individuals working on the broken down vehicle.

The right lane was shut down as a result of the accident.
