Three People Accused Of Kidnapping And Robbing Elderly Veteran Due In Court

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- A preliminary hearing for three people accused of kidnapping and robbing a couple in West Philadelphia is scheduled for today.

Vashti Williams, Damon Cornish, and Frances Ferguson are charged with kidnapping an 86-year-old Korean War veteran and his wife back in April.

Investigators say the three defendants allegedly took the retired couple to the bank and forced them to open a debit card.

"One of the passengers in the vehicle gets out with the driver, they go towards both of our victims, they take them, they push them into the car. At that point they drive them to 4th and Market to a TD Bank," said Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker.

Police say the debit card was allegedly used to rent several cars.
