Thousands Spend July 4th On The Parkway For 'Country's Largest Free Concert'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Thousands flocked to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway Saturday to enjoy the Philly 4th of July Jam.

This is the 22nd year of the annual event which concludes an entire week of festivities celebrating the birth of our nation.

The evening ended with a performance by The Roots and, of course, a fireworks show for the grand finale.

Some people arrived to Party on the Parkway as early as 7 a.m. They brought breakfast, lunch and dinner and spent the entire day on location just to get a good spot to see the largest free concert in America.

The popular boy band MKTO performed earlier in the night followed by Jennifer Nettles.
