Thieves Take Gifts From Chester County Homes On Christmas Eve

By David Spunt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Tredyffrin Police are on the hunt for thieves after detectives say several homes were burglarized early Wednesday morning.

Police say the burglaries took place on Biddle Street and Rochsolach Road in Paoli, Chester County. Jewelry, clothes and a man's BMW were stolen.

"(They) took all the presents, got into my car and stole my car," Paoli resident David Scudder told Eyewitness News.

Scudder says the thieves broke into his home through a window, took his car keys and gained access to his 2008 black BMW sedan. Scudder says the Pennsylvania license tag reads HRH 4478.

"For the people that stole, I would have given them the presents if they were that desperate for them," he said.

Eyewitness News also spoke to Paul and Barbara Zimmer. They live in the neighborhood and several of their gifts were gone when they woke up Wednesday morning. Police told them thieves gained access by picking a lock on their door.

"(We feel) violated. Not only was our privacy infringed upon, but you spend a lot of time picking out gifts and wrapping them for loved ones," Zimmer said.

If you have any information about the burglaries, you can call Tredyffrin Police at 610-647-1440.
