Man Breaks Into Church In Warminster, Steals Money From 'Poor Boxes'

By Steve Beck

WARMINSTER, Pa. (CBS) -- It doesn't get much lower than this.

Investigators are searching for the heartless thief who broke into a church in Bucks County and stole money that was intended for the poor.

The incident happened in the early morning hours Tuesday at the Nativity of Our Lord Church on West Street Road in Warminster.

Surveillance video inside the church captured the suspect forcibly entering the closed church. Once inside, the suspect forced open several "poor boxes" that contained donated money.

The suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money before running out of the church.

"If you need money why don't you ask for it? And instead of stealing from church there are a lot of people who will give if you ask," said a parishioner.

The suspect is described as a white male with dark-colored hair and possibly a goatee. He was wearing cargo pants.

Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to contact the Warminster Township Police Department at 215-343-0100.
