The World's Smallest Therapy Dog Visits Nursing Home In Bucks County

By Paul Kurtz

WARRINGTON, Pa. (CBS) -- The Guinness Book record for World's Smallest Working Dog was in our area Friday, visiting residents of a nursing home in Warrington.

At two and a half pounds and five inches tall it would be hard for any dog not to be adorable, but this cuddly brown Yorkie named Lucy is also talented. Elderly wheelchair-bound fans were mesmerized as she performed a series of tricks inside Neshaminy Manor.

Lucy's official title is certified therapy dog. Robyn Van Dusen of Caring Hospice arranged her visit.

"This is probably the purest form of work. It's an honor to see all the faces. To see the smiles especially when the elderly are just sitting there and grumbling and then their eyes light up."

Next week the pint-sized canine will hit the road again, providing smiles and comfort to the sick and disabled.
