The Prevalence Of Computer-Related Injuries

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Let me start off by saying this is not evidenced-based, there is no study I am referring to - just my own experience seeing patients every day.

We have an epidemic in this country: an epidemic of back and neck tightness and it is probably the result of too much time on the computer at work or Twitter and Facebook at home - or people bringing computer work home.

Add to this the need to text on cellphones to talk to kids and you get the idea.

The question is what can we do about it?

One answer is obvious - try to limit unnecessary stress by making a conscious effort to avoid computer use and keyboard strokes when it is not necessary. The other thing is to take some time to stretch during the day - take breaks and walk around. It is essential.
