The Philly 40: Larry Bowa

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Larry Bowa has filled just about every role possible with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Bowa was a five time All-Star shortstop for the Phillies in the 70's and 80's, returned as a coach in the 90's, managed the team at the end of the 90's and beginning of the 2000's, and now will serve as bench coach for new manager Ryne Sandberg.

Bowa was named as one of the greatest sports figures in the history of Philadelphia, by 94WIP's Anthony Gargano and Rob Ellis.

Bowa was the first person named to the Philly 40, the best sports figures Philadelphia of the last 40 years, compiled by Gargano and Ellis.

Bowa took some time to talk to Gargano and Ellis about his history as a player, manager, and now as a bench coach for the Phillies.
