The PA Ballet: 'Director's Choice'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Pennsylvania Ballet Company presents "Director's Choice" -- an evening of dance, inspired by the company's leaders -- from May 8th to May 11th at the Academy of Music.

"It's the type of program I really enjoy seeing the company perform," says Artistic Director Roy Kaiser.
It's also a program that showcases the company's versatility.
"I think one of the great strengths of the Pennsylvania Ballet is the fact that we have dancers in the Company that can -- in the course of an evening -- change gears two or three times," Kaiser explains.
In this case, it's going from classic choreography by former artistic director Robert Weiss to a romantic, modern dance by Christopher Wheeldon, set to "After the Rain" by Arvo Part.
In between, there's a world premier by an artist familiar to PA Ballet-goers -- Trey McIntyre, with music by Patrick Watson.
"A smaller work for six couples. And Trey has a very contemporary aesthetic to his work. Women are in flat shoes instead of point shoes, and [it's] very movement oriented," Kaiser says.
