Thanksgiving Dinner Served On Board The Battleship New Jersey

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Battleship New Jersey in Camden county earlier today hosted its annual Thanksgiving dinner where they welcomed active duty military personal who cannot make it home for the holidays.

Dozens of people cheered and played music for the soldiers as they made their way to the battleship New Jersey for a Thanksgiving dinner.

Nicholas Farmer, a Naval officer from Plains Montana is stationed at joint base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

"It's absolutely fantastic," Farmer said. "I'm extremely privileged to be here right now. I'm almost speechless about it. It's absolutely fantastic."

He says even though he's a long way from home, he's thankful to be able to spend his Thanksgiving with his military brothers and sisters, and enjoy one of his most loved foods, turkey.

Businesses from all around South Jersey donated the fixings to make this dinner possible and more than 50 volunteers helped serve the men and women in uniform.
