Tens Of Thousands Still Without Power In South Jersey

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, N.J. (CBS) - Work continues to turn on electricity for tens of thousands of people in South Jersey still without power and some are getting impatient.

PSE&G says all of their customers affected have been reconnected. It's a different story for Atlantic City Electric.

Power went out for nearly 300,000 AC Electric customers immediately following Tuesday's storms. Spokesman Marcus Beil says crews have been working to clear downed trees and reconnect power lines ever since:

"We had more outages than Hurricane Sandy and the damage definitely is representative of that. So we're seeing numerous large trees, a ton of debris down."

Many residents have expressed displeasure with the utility company's response time. Beil says they are working as fast as they can to turn on the lights for the people in their own communities:

"We're human, and we understand that frustration. And, again, we're restoring power for our colleges, for our neighbors, our family, our friends."

He says everyone will have power back by Sunday evening.
