Temple Tops UCF 84-78 For Fifth Straight Win

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Jaylen Bond scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Temple to an 84-78 victory over Central Florida on Sunday for its fifth straight win.

Bond surpassed his season-high of 13 points by the 10:39 mark of the first half, helping Temple take a 19-17 lead. He finished 10 of 15 from the field and had three of Temple's eight blocks. The junior's previous career-best was 18.

Will Cummings also had 21 points for Temple (11-4, 2-0 American). Josh Brown had 14 and Quenton DeCosey added 12. The Owls remain undefeated at home in seven contests.

B.J. Taylor led UCF (7-6, 0-2) with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Daiquan Walker scored 17, Adonys Henriquez had 14 and Brandon Goodwin 12.

Taylor's 3-pointer with 4:10 left got UCF within 70-63, but DeCosey answered with a 3-pointer to start an 8-2 run for a 13-point advantage.
