Temple Men's Basketball Game Will Be Broadcast In Mandarin

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Tonight, the Temple men's basketball team will host Tulsa and for the first time, the game will be broadcast in Mandarin.
There are nearly 1,300 Chinese students enrolled at Temple, so broadcasting home men's basketball games in Mandarin makes a lot of sense.

Two freshman will handle the announcing duties, James Yuan and Javi Yuan, who aren't related and who both grew up in China.

James talks about how he plans to approach the broadcast, "like to get the atmosphere going, to entertain the audience, to get them involved, because, not going to lie, not everybody knows all the plays, so I'm probably just going to do this in a common way. Not going to explain the play really in deep."

This is a pretty big opportunity, but Javi says he isn't nervous: "When I get close to the microphone, I know what to do."

The broadcasts in Mandarin will be streamed on the Temple Athletic website, owlsports.com.
