Temple Holds Mental Health Fair

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thursday's Fair at Temple University focused on helping folks with Psychiatric Disabilities participate in recreational and physical activities.

"We bring in mental health providers, we bring in consumers. Students are welcome to come and stop by, and of course community members are here as well," said Gretchen Snethen with Temple University.

She says often times recreational activities are put on the back burner when it comes to people with mental illnesses, but they're holding the fair to help inspire those people to get up and get active.

"Taking the time to figure out what it is you love to do can really help build your confidence, it can help give you opportunities for physical activities, it can improve your mental health. There's so many benefits that can happen from it, and we think this is an opportunity to start making those connections," said Snethen.

Philly Gets Fit, Back On My Feet, and the Bicycle Coalition were some of the organizations on hand helping people find activities that are just right for them.
