Temple Falls To Notre Dame In Heartbreaker

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Temple Owls took their first loss of the season in heartbreaking fashion, losing to 9th ranked Notre Dame 24-20 at Lincoln Financial Field.

21st ranked Temple took their first lead of the game, 20-17, late in the 4th quarter on a 36-yard field goal off the foot of Austin Jones, but couldn't hold off the Irish who marched 75-yards in just a matter of minutes to retake the lead with 2:09 left to play on a 17-yard pass from DeShone Kizer to Will Fuller.

Temple was driving after the touchdown, but Quarterback PJ Walker's pass was picked off in Notre Dame territory by KeiVarae Russell with a little over a minute to go.

Notre Dame improves to 7-1 with the win, and 16-0 in games played on Halloween.

The Owls, who fall to 7-1 with the loss, will look to bounce back when they visit SMU on Friday night.
