Teenage Girl Rescued After Falling Into Icy Waterway In New Jersey

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — A teenage girl was treated for possible hypothermia after she fell into an icy waterway in central New Jersey.

Middletown authorities say the 14-year-old girl had climbed along an outflow pipe shortly before she fell into Sandy Hook Bay around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Rescuers reached her a short time later and used a sled to bring her to land.

The teen's name has not been released, and further details on her condition have not been disclosed.

Two other people with the victim — identified only as a teenage girl and an adult woman — did not fall in the bay and were led to safety by officials.
